Ramgiri - Shivani Temple Shakti Peeth

Ramgiri Shakti Peeth in Madhya Pradesh holds great religious significance for Hindus as it has believed to be where Mother Sati's right breast fell. Interestingly, there is a difference in opinion regarding the exact location of Ramgiri Shakti Peeth. Some people consider the Sharda Devi temple in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, as a Shakti Peeth; others believe that the Sharda Temple in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, is the designated Shakti Peeth. 

The Sharda Devi Temple, also known as 'Mihar Devi Mata', is located in Maihar in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated on Trikuta Hill, with an elevation of about 600 feet and has dedicated to Maa Sharadey Devi. The power here is worshipped as 'Shivani', and Bhairav (a form of Lord Shiva) has been worshipped as 'Chand'. Ramgiri, or Shivani temple, is believed to be the 51 Shakti Peethas of Mata and is considered one of India's most sacred shrines.

History

The Chitrakoot temple is a very sacred place. Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lakshmana spent eleven and a half years in these forests during their fourteen-year exile. Many sages and seers took their incarnations here. It is fascinating to discover that Lord Rama performed his father's Shraddha ritual at Chitrakuta and that all the powers came to involve in the Shuddhi. The tradition of providing food to relatives and friends on the thirteenth day of a family member's death is essential in many cultures. Chitrakoot is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana and is also known as Ramgiri due to Mahakavi Kalidasa's Bhakti to Lord Rama. It has said that Tulsidas, the saint poet of Hindi, had the darshan of Lord Ram at Chitrakoot.

By Rail: 

Chitrakoot Railway Station is the nearest station. Accessing Ramgiri Shakti Peeth is situated on the Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jabalpur railway line, specifically at 'Chitrakootdham Karvi' station, 285 km away from Lucknow and 670 km away from Hazrat Nizamuddin. The first Chitrakootdham station is approximately 30 km from Manikpur station and is a winding road to travel.
