Maa Chintpurni Temple - Recognition & Temple timings

Himachal Pradesh is hugely sanctified as Devi Bhumi. According to the legend of Shri Shivpuran, when Lord Shiva was visiting the three locos with the corpse of Sati Parvati, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Sati from the circle to remove his attachment. The sacred places where Sati's limbs fell, those places are known as Shakti peeth. It is a belief that parts of Sati's feet fell at this place. It is also the place of Chinnamastika Devi.Therefore, ‘Mata Chintpurni’ is also known as Chinnamastika Dham. Chintpurni means the Goddess who removes anxiety.

Glory of Goddess Chintpurni

According to some, Mata Chintpurni is the name and form of Mother Jwalamukhi. There is also the name of Mata Jwalamukhi, in a composition called 'Jwalamukhi Sahastra Naam.' The goddess of this place was named Chintpurni on this basis. Due to the effect of Kali Yuga, even today, a man who is fully equipped with things, appears to be suffering from worries. Even after securing all the resources of happiness from a proverbial point of view, he does not get mental peace. Due to some worldly lack of worry, anxiety arises from his mind, which does not let him be in peace. Some lack physical beauty, some lack money, and others lack knowledge. Chintpurni Devi Temple Visit

Distance from Chintpurni bus stand to Chintpurni Devi temple is 1.5 km,

which travelers have to walk on foot. More than half of the path is straight, the rest path is reached by the steps to the temple, in the central portion of the temple, darshan of ‘Mata Chintpurni’ is in the form of a round body, Where devotees worship in various ways. Pond of Chintpurni Temple

Let’s hear a story. ‘Maa Bhagwati’ gave a direct vision to the devotee ‘Maidas Ji’ in the form of a girl, and he got rid of his anxiety. Goddess Bhagwati said that the big stone that you will uproot would drain the water from that place.
Now, there is a beautiful pond at the place from where the devotee uprooted the stone. Coldwater was revealed when the stone was uprooted from that place. This pond was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab. After this, Amar Shaheed, former chairman of Chintpurni Sarovar Working Committee, renovated this pond. Lala Jagat Narayan Ji got it done, who was the former editor of Punjab Kesari. Just above the pond, there is a tomb of the founder of the temple, Sri 1008 Baba Maidas Ji. There is a holy bawdi near the temple, whose water is said to remove all diseases.

Historical Divine Stone

The stone which the devotee Maidasji had uprooted according to the divine girl and whose water revealed after its overthrow, is the historic ancient stone still kept in the court of Mother Rani for the pilgrims to see. This sacred stone can be seen on the right near the main door as soon as it enters the Chintpurni Devi temple.

Banyan Tree

The temple of Maa Chintpurni is situated in the shadow of this historic and ancient Vat tree. Under this tree, Pandit Maidas Ji rested while going to his in-laws and returning. The same, they first saw Goddess in their dreams as a divine girl. Devotees here hold a wish in their mind and tie a red string (Kalava) in the branches of this Vat tree, and upon fulfilling their desire, they present it in the Chintpurni temple and open the thread. It is a belief that all the wishes can be fulfilled by tying the thread in this vat tree.

Fair and Festivals of Chintpurni Temple

During Navratri, the temple organizes great fairs and festivities in which all the devotees from all over the world visit this place to seek blessings from the Goddess.

The fair is held thrice in March-April, July-August, and September-October.

In March – April, the fair takes place during the Navratri, while in July – August, it occurs during the first ten days of the Shukla Paksha. The festival continues throughout the day, but on the 8th day, it is celebrated with great pomp. The Goddess of this temple fulfills everyone's wishes and eradicate worries. And at the same time, these temples are delightful and bring peace to mind.

The fascinating thing about ‘Chinnamastika Dham' is that the Lord Shiva has secured the temple from all sides. In east Kaleshwar Mahadev temple, Narayana Mahadev temple in west, Machkand Mahadev temple in North, and shiv bari temple are located in the South.

Best Time to Visit

The temple is open throughout the year, so one can visit any time. But in winter, the temperature around this temple falls below the minimum zero degree, which is harmful for the health of tourists. During the rainy season, rainfall is comparatively higher than other places. The best place to visit the temple is in the mid of April to September.

This place is in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. The area is called Bharwai, which is at some distance from Hoshiarpur in Punjab. There is a constant movement of buses here— the Bhavya temple of Chintpurni Devi, only 2-3 miles away from the Bharwai bus stand.
