Cheti Chand - Jhulelal Jayanti

Cheti Chand is the new year’s day for the Sindhi community. It is the birthday of their Ishtadeva Jhulelal, who is also called Ishtadeva Uderolal. He is said to be the incarnation of Varun Deva, the God of water. It falls on the second day of the month of Chaitra. After observing forty days fast of Chaliha Sahib, Sindhis celebrate Cheti Chand on the forty-first day. Sindhis go at the bank of the rivers and worship their God. People start their new accounts on this day.
